HUMAN RIGHTS

WHY HUMAN RIGHTS?
“Democracy is founded on the primacy of the law and the exercise of human rights. In a democratic State, no one is above the law and all are equal before the law.
Human Rights and their protection is imperative for the proper functioning of the state. Human Rights are those rights that all people have by virtue of being human beings. These are derived from the inherent dignity and humanity of a person.
At a basic level, human rights enshrine people with equality irrespective of their class, creed, gender, race, religion, political thinking, etc. These rights encourage and enforce upon countries a positive protection to be given to the people, i.e., to not only refrain from certain conduct but to positively act to ensure the protection of human rights.
